980 NE Myra Road: New Entrance980 NE Myra Road: New Entrance

Stubblefield Salvage and Recycling, LLC will change the entrance and address where they buy and process scrap and used iron, cast iron, aluminum, copper, brasss and stainless steel.

nce 1942, Emory and Margurite Stubblefield operated salvage and recycling centers at 535 and 595 Offner Road and later expanded their business to 111 11th Street in Walla Walla, Washington. Late last year, the Myra Road extension was completed and opened to traffic making it possible to enter their business property at 980 NE Myra Road and will become the new entrance later this year.

On November 12, 2008, Walla Walla County approved the new address and entrance for the Stubblefield Salvage and Recycling centers, subject to an improved road extension beginning at the end of the asphalt turn off.  The private road improvements located on the Stubblefield property will be completed within the next 90 days and just in time for the heavy scrap metal and recycling season.

The salvage and recycling operation originally started by Emory and Margurite Stubblefield is now run by their three surviving children, Lily, Lenora and Albert.  Lily who manages the day to day operations and is CEO says, "We are especially grateful to city and county officials who have provided guidance and welcomed us back to Walla Walla.  Their strong support for our vision of a regional recycling center that is enviornmentally friendly has truly been amazing.

"Our ultimate goal is to reduce the foot print of the recycling and salvage centers and increase the efficiency and productivity of our commercial processes.  Ultimately, we envision shade trees, green zones and organic restoration of contaminated areas. We are excited about enhancing the view over Mill Creek and creating natural spaces to encourage native plants and wildlife to return."

The new entrance at 980 NE Myra Road is expected to increase visibility for the business and bring in many new customers.  The new address will allow customers to easily access the recycling centers from a paved road and avoid the more complicated and less attractive gravel route up Offner Road.
