Scrap collectors who are willing to take an extra few minutes with an old vehicle motor block will earn substantially more when taking their product to the dealer.

The rules are simple and have change a little in the scrap collector's favor. It is no longer necessary to remove the pistons from the motor block.

Do the following to earn up to one third (1/3) more for your old motor blocks.

  1. Remove the valve cover. (No liquids, no oil permitted.)
  2. Remove the oil pan. (No liquids, no oil permitted.)
  3. Separate the transmission from the motor.
  4. Remove the oil filter.
  5. Each motor must be accompanied by the original VIN of the vehicle from which it was taken. (This is a Washington State requirement to curb theft and chop-shop operations.)
  6. Finally ensure that aluminum, tubing, wiring or other contaminates are removed prior to bringing your motor blocks to market.

That's all you have to do to increase your profits on vehicle motor blocks by about 30% and sometimes more.

Most dealers pay a premium to scrap collectors who consistently sell to them and bring in rather large quantities of sorted and prepared material.  In the case of vehicle motor blocks Stubblefield Salvage and Recycling, LLC pays their preferred customers up to one third (1/3) more.

Preferred customers are those who consistently sell their products to our yard and bring in loads of one item sorted and prepared in excess of 1,200 pounds.  We value all our customers and are seeking new and innovative ways to help all our scrap collectors earn more.

We have found by explaining the process and teaching scrap collectors the fundamentals of recycling and scrap processing, they earn more.  It's a partnership between the collector and the dealer to continually move product to market as quickly and efficiently as possible.  Our goal is same day processing, which is only possible when the scrap collector understands how to sort and prepare products for our salvage and recycling center.

Right now scrap vehicle blocks are paying more than many of the other heavy scrap iron and steel products and we encourage collectors to take advantage of the increased price of the current market.
