SSR-1 Raises Prices to Protect Suppliers and Increase Production

Stubblefield Salvage and Recycling, LLC (SSR-1) is raising prices in a move to aggressively protect scrap metal suppliers and increase production.

Prices at SSR-1 shot up as much as $20 a ton this morning.  While many other scrap yards are lowering payments to local vendors SSR-1 is increasing its payments to scrap colletors by nearly 15%.

Vendors with HMS #1, #2 and cast iron will get fatter checks immediately --especially for prepared iron.  Those with truck loads (TL) of twenty (20) tons or more will receive a 5% premium when they sell their iron to us.   . . . Make Money off Old Auto or Truck Starters

Car and Truck StartersCar and Truck StartersAre you constantly amazed at how more things are being recycled every day? I know I sure am. Items in my home or garage that I previously would have burned or thrown in the trash I’m now hearing “Recycle”. What’s amazing me is the wide variety of auto parts that are recyclable. I’ve always known that junkyards make a mint off their used car parts, but I never associated that with the fact that junk cars can be like money in the bank!

Old starters from your trucks or cars can easily be recycled into something useful and, hopefully, environmentally friendly. After all, the environment is the main reason why recycling is so important – that and saving energy, which goes back to the environment! Therefore, when you begin cleaning out your back yard, before you consider those old cars as total junk, let’s check out those starters! As you can see from the picture of an auto starter, many parts can be reused, if necessary.

Scrap Iron Prices Drop

Scrap Iron: Mixed Prepared HMS #1 and #2Scrap Iron: Mixed Prepared HMS #1 and #2Scrap iron, HMS 1, HMS 2, cast iron, ferrous tin and used appliance prices decreased substantially today.

Even with a weaker dollar, commodity markets softened as international buyers have over bought and world inventories of used metals are at an all-time high.  Most nonferrous scrap products are expected to trend downward, as well.

Base Metal Markets Dip Unexpectedly

Base metal prices, including copper, took a dive in world markets today.  A firmer US dollar and speculation China may slow stockpiling base scrap metals.  Copper prices fell to their lowest prices in more than a week.

Tin, aluminum and zinc followed lower copper prices as cuatious investors bid lower on commodity futures and base metals lost some of their luster from earlier in the week.

Battery lead and steel-making metal nickel prices were also slightly lower.   . . . Read more about Base Metal Markets Dip Unexpectedly
